Description: This deck helps students build two-syllable words with R-controlled vowels. It's a great way to solidify understanding of Bossy R syllables and to build fluency reading words containing this pattern. How it works: Students first see a list of all words contained in the deck. They can read the words or click to hear the word pronounced. In the next cards, they see six different syllables and must drag two of them to a box to spell a real word. If they need a hint, they can click a sound icon to hear the target word pronounced. Good to Know: • All the R controlled vowels are included: AR, ER, IR, OR, UR. • All words are two-syllables and contain closed syllables (short vowel sound) or Silent E syllables in addition to the R-controlled syllable • There are a couple of soft C and G words (circus, birdcage). This deck is one of the more challenging ones in my R-Controlled bundle and should be used after students have been introduced to all the R-controlled vowels and have some facility with one-syllable words. This deck is more challenging than my R-controlled word-building deck because there are no pictures. It's less challenging than R-controlled Two-Syllable spelling.
