Description
Students will solve division word problems with mixed number quotients using visual fraction models, in this pie shop- themed activity. Students will see a word problem and a coordinating image. Students will drag and drop dividers to the image to represent the division problem as a fraction model. Then, they will fill in the mixed number answer using the information from the fraction model. Directions included. Divisors (numerators) up to 10 and dividends (denominators) up to 8. 5.NF.3 Interpret a fraction as division of the numerator by the denominator (a/b = a ÷ b). Solve word problems involving division of whole numbers leading to answers in the form of fractions or mixed numbers, e.g., by using visual fraction models or equations to represent the problem.
