Description: This is a great self-reflection activity for Social Skills or even for teaching about a speech filter, or how to Identify feelings. If you need digital speech therapy materials or Social emotional activities, Teach your students the difference between being an optimist and being a pessimist by reflecting on simple comments and how they can be interpreted by others. I like to teach my students to be as positive as possible because optimists tend to have, tend to make, and tend to keep more friends. Do your students listen to themselves? Your students will receive a 32 card deck with 6 instructional cards, 24 multiple choice cards and 1 self-reflection card at the end . The cards work well with any students grades 6-10 or best when used with students who have mild cognitive delays yet basic language skills. An independent lesson will take about 20 minutes however if you are using it as a teaching tool during instruction the lesson can easily fill 45 minutes with breaks in between for group discussion. When I use this lesson with my Social Skills classroom it takesĀ  (45 minutes).
