Description: Students will work on their fluency skills while reading an adapted version of 'Twas the Night Before Christmas (by Clement Clarke Moore). This deck includes stanzas 5-9 of the poem (additional decks for stanzas 1-4 and 10-14 are available). In this guided activity, students will see a phrase from the poem (adapted for developmentally appropriate language and content). 1. They will click to hear each word of the phrase read to them one at a time (to promote accuracy). 2. Next, they will click to hear the phrase read aloud with correct rate and prosody. 3. Finally, students are directed to read it on their own. Students will click each step as it is completed. After all three steps are completed, they will be able to continue on to the next slide. Directions with audio are included on the first slide. A separate version of this activity is available without step 1 for more advanced students.
