Description
Do your students struggle with distinguishing short vowel CVC words and long vowel CVCe (Magic E) words? This deck contains 48 cards depicting CVC and CVCe word minimal pairs (words that differ by one sound). Students will look at each picture and determine the correct spelling given the two choices beneath (short vowel CVC or long vowel CVCe/Magic E). For example, given a picture of a "kit," students will choose between kit and kite. Another card depicts a "kite" with the same choices beneath. The lesson aligns with the Science of Reading research and complements your Orton-Gillingham lessons that teach the long silent e (Magic E) concept with a CVC word review.
