Description: This deck is for middle and high school students working on conversation skills. They learn to differentiate giving responses like making noises and giving one word responses, to ones that maintain the conversation and establish personal connections. The goal of the deck is to move students towards having conversations that arent just on topic, relevant and work towards conversational maintenance but also help them get to know other people on a more personal level. There is a video on my youtube channnel that explains the scale too. Point Scale: 0 points: Fillers and sounds. 1 point: One word responses, the bare minimum. It's an answer but doesn't maintain the conversationl 2 points: Responses that contribute to the conversation AND maintain it. 3 points: Responses that contribute, maintain AND help make a personal connection. Students performs multiple scaffolded tasks during this deck: They rate four responses according to the rating scale, (drag and drop), They answer multiple choice questions about the advantages and disadvantages of each type of response, (click on 1-3 correct responses), Given a question or comment, they write their own 0,1,2 and 3 point responses (type the response), They change responses to different ratings. For example, they change a 1 point response to a 3 point response. Then, they write their own 3 point responses. Clip art portrays older, diverse students. Students can click on microphone icon to hear directions & questions.
