Description: Complete lesson on assertive communication- concepts & skills are taught using a scaffolded approach. Students learn to differentiate through drag and drop and open-ended tasks. Students give synonyms and use the words in a sentence. How to decline with the "nice no," Setting boundaries, Speaking your needs, I messages, and The 3 C's of assertive communication (confidence, clarity, control). Within each mini lesson, there is an explanation of the skill, multiple choice responses, open-ended responses and scenarios providing a deeper dive into the skill. Towards the end, social scenarios are given where students choose which of the assertiveness skills to use & type what they'd say. A review is at the end. Students are given multiple response modes to demonstrate their knowledge including: drag and drop, multiple choice, and open-ended where students type their responses. Real photographs of middle school, high school and young adults are used and mutiple skin tones are represented. Students have the option to hear audio directions.
