Description: This is a game, not a self-checking activity. Students gain sight word practice through this fun game. There are many ways to play this game. Suggestions: 1. Students read a sight word and drag the card to their player spot. First person to find the hidden Jack-in-the-box wins that round. There are 9 rounds. Play all the rounds or until someone wins 5 of them. 2. Once someone finds Jack, they keep points for how many words they have read that round. The other player loses their points for that round. Keep a running total for all the rounds. This deck contains words from the first 25 words of the Fry first one hundred words list. By opening different decks either in different windows or on different devices, students could play against each other using different levels of words.
