Description: Students will review five different prefixes, while also building vocabulary and spelling skills in this "drag and drop" activity. This can be used as a stand alone activity or as a supplemental activity for any word pattern/ spelling program including the Words Their Way™ Derivational Relations Spellers phonics, vocabulary and spelling instruction program. Spelling patterns work with DR Word Sort 5 in the third edition. Students will be asked to drag and "connect" a prefix puzzle piece to a word puzzle piece to create a new word with a new meaning. Prefixes: pre- (before/ beforehand) post- (after) fore- (before, front, lead) after- (after) re- (again) Definitions and examples of the prefixes included on the first slides.
