Description: Four sections in this deck help students gain mastery of speaking with the /sl/ cluster, building from coarticulation across word boundaries to word-initial blends. First, students complete 60 trials of coarticulation cards with /s/ followed by /l/, across word boundaries, to organize motor planning articulation for this sound sequence. Next, five articulation scene cards provide 50 blocked trials for word level (or phrase level) practice with /sl/ blends in word-initial position. Next listening and thinking quiz cards review these key words while building semantic brain connections for this cluster, part of phonemic awareness foundation skills. Finally, 5 extra cards for randomized practice of familiar target words for 50 more trials. Most students will not do this whole deck in one speech therapy session. If coarticulation practice will be beneficial, start there and go through to the quiz cards. If coarticulation is not needed, start at the clusters cards, do the quiz cards, and into the extra randomized cards. Great for teletherapy or teacher-led classroom use, where students still find it satisfying to see each scene completed, even if it is the SLP or teacher is manipulating the clipart.
