Description: This Homonyms in Ambiguous Sentences deck for grades 2 to 6 targets 40 homonyms in sentence contexts that do not clearly express a meaning. An AMBIGUOUS SENTENCE has 2 or more possible meanings, often due to the presence of a MULTIPLE MEANING WORD and a lack of sufficient contextual information in the sentence, which can cause confusion for the listener/reader. For each card, students will read an unclear ambiguous sentence and type (OR say, record and playback immediately for another person to type) 2 possible meanings for the underlined word in the sentence. (There may be more than 2 possible answers.) As a challenge activity extension, students can discuss possible ways to rewrite the sentence so that its meaning is clear. An Answer Key is included on the last 4 cards in the deck, which can be printed or hidden by selecting from the pull down "Action" menu next to this deck in your library. To hide the cards- assign the deck then open it and skip to card 43, select "Hide Card"; repeat for cards 44, 45, and 46.
