Description: First, students are asked to follow directions by pointing to the concept big or small in a field of 3. After, students are asked to describe the object identified. Students are given a visual sentence starter (e.g. the ____ is ____). Studnets are provided with 2 visual choices per blank space. Students are asked to select one noun (e.g. sun/ice) and put it into the first space. Students are asked to select the basic concept "big" or "small" in the second blank space. This helps students form utterances such as "the elephant is big" or "the mouse is small." Some of the following goals can be targeted during this activity: - Expanding Utterances and Increasing MLU - Basic Concepts - Following Directions with Basic Concepts - Describing (e.g. color, attributes, color, adjectives, function, etc.)
