Description: This awesome matching game allows students to use their observing skills to match the animals' head and bodies. They can see the names of each animal, so they can check their understanding while they play this self-correcting game! An excellent way to introduce new words and to show students vocabulary related to a text! (The story itself and the illustrations from the book are not included, but this story can be found in many libraries by the author Bill Martin.) All the following words are included on the picture-word cards: polar bear, hippopotamus, lion, flamingo, boa constrictor, elephant, leopard, peacock, zebra, walrus, children, and zookeeper. How I have used this game: 1. With older students, as a review. 2. With younger students, as an introduction to the text of the story "Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What do you hear?" a. Students play the game with me and on their own. With me, we talk about the animal names. b. Then, I read the story to them. c. We reread the story and discuss it and do different activities with it. Meanwhile, the student is allowed to play this game over and over for reinforcement. I hope this helps. Enjoy!
