Description: This highly interactive deck CLEARLY explains first, second, and third-class levers using SIMPLE terms, clipart, and an easy-to-remember mnemonic device: FLE-123. I use this deck on day 1 to introduce 8th graders to the different classes of levers. Interactive Task Descriptions: 1) students are given the definition and diagram. 2) students label the load, fulcrum, and effort on several levers. 3) students choose which class the lever is when given a picture with labels. 4) students choose all the x class levers (not labeled) Note - This deck does not dive into input force, resistance force, calculating mechanical advantage, or any other math involved.
