Description: Using words that look alike forces students to carefully attend to each sound in a word when decoding rather than guessing or rushing through. This deck contains 26 cards depicting CVC short u words. Each picture has either 2 or 3 words beneath it. Words differ by the initial or final sound. Students must carefully read each word and decide which matches the picture. This activity aligns to the Science of Reading research and is a perfect complement to any Orton-Gillingham activity. The words in this deck *ONLY* contain the short u sound!
