This activity is designed to support vocabulary development and semantic knowledge through discussion of "tricky" vocabulary related to high frequency nouns. Students are asked to identify an item based on the name of part of the item. All items are high frequency common objects but are described using more challenging vocabulary e.g. stem for flower or rind for watermelon. Further, the activity supports students in seeking clarification as they most ask about unknown vocabulary. Can be used as a small group/class activity for younger and older grades or given as homework task for primary students.
