Description: These Boom Cards™ will give your students practice with blending onset and rime for short e word families (CVC families plus the "est" family) in this 16 card deck. Students click on the speaker icon to have the directions read to them, "Blend the onset and rime and find the matching picture." The directions are the same for all 16 cards. Students will blend the onset and rime shown at the bottom of the cards and choose the matching picture from the three picture choices on each card. Two answer choices are wrong and one is correct. Even if students do not know what all three pictures are, after blending the onset and rime, students should be able to find the matching picture for the blended word. Remind students that they are finding the picture that matches the word. The cards in this deck are randomized so that the cards are in a different order each time the deck is played. Correct answers are rewarded with a bell sound which automatically advances students to the next card. Incorrect answers hear “whoops” and students must keep trying until the correct answer is chosen. There are 16 cards in this deck of self-checking cards.
