Description: Class Vote is a whole-group voting activity, using fun “either/or” images, such as “Ketchup or Mustard? Cat or Dog?.” This activity was designed to be conducted by the teacher/adult, while sharing their screen with the class. [While it can also be played by individual students, there are no wrong or right answers, making Boom progress reports invalid.] Lesson Plan Suggestions for Class Vote STEP1: Discuss the rules of voting. (Can only choose one, be a good sport if your choice doesn’t win, respect others’ opinions, etc.). STEP 2: Play CLASS VOTE. 1. Share your screen with the class (Smartboard, Apple TV, document camera, etc.). Click the green “Next” button to advance past the title card and start voting. 2. Read choices to students and click the yellow VOTE! Button. 3. By show of hands, or thumbs-up, etc. – count the votes to pick a winner and drag that item to the center of the apple and then click the blue “Submit” button to advance to the next vote. IN CASE OF A TIE - - - - - just put both items in the apple. (Accommodation for students with special needs, print the “Apple” cards ahead of time, staple them in booklet form, and let them point to their choices.). STEP 3: After the activity, consider these discussion topics: 1. Name one item that won that you didn’t agree with. 2. Why do we vote? 3. What happens when some of us vote and some of us don’t? STEP 4 (Optional): Use the winner of the last card as your Spring Field Trip!
