Description: Get students in the habit of referencing the text to show comprehension. These passages are super short and simple for first and second grade students. Perfect for students at the beginning stages of learning to reference the text to help with answering text based questions accurately. These monthly readers will prompt students to dive into fun non-fiction topics as well as fictional stories. Students read passages that fit the monthly theme. There are 20 stories in each monthly set. Students will be prompted to read a passage and type their answers in the boxes provided. Students are prompted to write their answers in complete sentences. With the understanding that student answers will vary, they are open ended so not graded. Teacher will review the answers submitted in the boxes separately. However, students will also be prompted to highlight their answers in the text. Please note that students will highlight the general area that aided them in finding the correct answer. They can type their answer in complete sentences but will not always be able to underline the complete sentence in the text. It is important to explain this to students.
