Description: Self-regulation is an important life skill for all children! In this deck, they are introduced to the concept of the "feelings thermometer," a simple way to understand how emotions can grow and shrink in intensity based on the thoughts we have! Strategies from ABA and CBT are used to teach simple metacognition strategies to intermediate learners. This deck includes audio throughout. This deck includes: 1. An adorable social story with delightful illustrations 2. Practice questions presented as scenarios, similar to a choose-your-own-adventure story. If the incorrect choice is selected, they are taken to a separate card that explains the consequences the person would face if they chose to behave that way. It then allows the learner to pick the correct choice (in an array of 1), and the story continues. 3. True/false knowledge check questions. When the answer is false and the learner answers incorrectly, they are provided with additional information about why this is so. 4. A brief one-page summary of the story for easy reference. Prerequisite skills for this deck: -Identifying facial expressions and basic emotions -A basic understanding of situational emotions: such as being able to identify situations that might make people feel certain ways -A basic understanding of cause and effect and simple problem solving
