Description: Students will practice using prefixes and context clues, while also building vocabulary and spelling skills, all in this one, winter-themed activity! This can be used as a stand alone activity or as a supplemental activity for any word pattern/ spelling program including the Words Their Way™ Syllables and Affixes Spellers phonics, vocabulary and spelling instruction program. Word list works with SA Word Sort 49 in the third edition or sort 47 in the second edition. Students will add the prefixes mis-, dis- and pre- to create words that fit the context clues in the sentence. Students will read a sentence with a blank. Using context clues, they will build the prefix word that is correct. They will drag and drop each letter to the correct box to create the word. Definitions and examples of the prefixes included on the first slide.
