Description: Whenever I have purchased products designed to teach complex sentence production, I have found myself wishing for more explicit teaching of specific subordinating conjunctions and what they are doing in a sentence. With my students, I talk about the "job" each conjunction word does and we discuss how the conjunction impacts the "hidden messages" in a sentence. I find that if they work on too many conjunctions without this explicit practice, they are still just guessing which conjunction to insert into their sentences. This deck is scaffolded to teach your students the "job" that WHILE does as a conjunction word. There are three drag and drop activity cards followed by a fill in the blank card in which students choose from a bank of four sentence starters and then type in their own responses to finish the sentences. This sequence is repeated three times. The very last slide asks your student to rate the difficulty of the task on a scale of 1-10.
