Description: Help AAC users and verbal communicators practice the vocabulary words “scary” and “not scary” with this deck featuring 50 slides of people in costume at the door on Halloween. The main goal is to help AAC users familiarize themselves with their devices by finding and using the words scary and not scary. For non-AAC users, the focus is on drilling the concept of “scary” while also allowing opportunities for descriptive language and simple yes/no responses. This resource includes two ways to respond: Yes/No format: Answer simply if the costume is scary. Vocabulary format: Respond directly with “Scary” or “Not scary.” Students can respond with single words (“Scary.”), 2-word utterances (“Not scary.”), or 3-word utterances (“That not scary.”). For more advanced practice, encourage description: “Scary mask.” “Not scary princess.” ⚠️ Some costumes may be a little scary—please preview before use to ensure appropriateness for your students. No clickable answers—students respond using their AAC devices and/or verbally.
