Description: Students need to order objects from shortest to tallest and from shortest to longest. Then they need to compare two objects by using a third object. Next, students will measure the length of objects using non-standard units of unifix cubes. Finally, students will practice their use of mathematical vocabulary by determining which animals are the shortest and tallest. Audio is provided on each slide to help students who cannot yet read the questions on their own. This Boom Deck is perfectly aligned to CCSS 1.MD.A.1 and 1.MD.A.2: Order three objects by length; compare the lengths of two objects indirectly by using a third object. Express the length of an object as a whole number of length units, by laying multiple copies of a shorter object (the length unit) end to end; understand that the length measurement of an object is the number of same-size length units that span it with no gaps or overlaps. Limit to contexts where the object being measured is spanned by a whole number of length units with no gaps or overlaps.
