Subjects: math

Grades: 4,5,6

Description: Part of the "Long Division/ Biome Series" of decks, this deck features division of whole number dividends (two-, three- and four-digit) by decimal divisors (tenths or hundredths). The biome/ ecosystem featured in this deck is: wetland. Students will see a division problem in standard algorithm form (bracket form). First, they will rewrite the problem with a whole number divisor. Then, they will solve the problem by typing the answer above the bracket. Division problems in this set include only answers without remainders. Directions for two methods of creating whole number divisors is included (multiply by powers of 10 -or- move the decimal). Each deck in the "Biomes" Division series features a specific biome background, animals, and plants/ landforms. This reinforces Ohio life science standards involving the understanding of ecosystems and biomes. The biome featured in this deck is: wetland. 5.NBT.6 Find whole number quotients of whole numbers with up to four-digit dividends and two-digit divisors, using strategies based on place value, the properties of operations, and/or the relationship between multiplication and division. 5.NBT.7 Solve real-world problems by adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing decimals... c. Divide whole numbers by decimals and decimals by whole numbers (whole numbers through the tens place and decimals less than one through the hundredths place using numbers whose division can be readily modeled).
