Description: Identifying synonyms and antonyms for academically based vocabulary! Includes 50 vocabulary words with multiple choice synonyms and antonyms. I try to let my own experience be the guide when making decks, and this is definitely a goal that I find myself working on all the time! For students working on word finding, expressive / receptive vocabulary, or semantics, I really like to pair work on synonyms and antonyms with common core based vocabulary - it's an easy way to address language in a way that is relevant to the curriculum! The words targeted in this resource are academically helpful vocabulary words often introduced in texts around 3rd grade and mastered more fully in subsequent grades. Please note these are examples I have compiled from a variety of sources and not an official list. (Also, you may want to use this resource with slightly older students, for example, those in grades 4, 5, or 6, if they struggle with language and need to catch up on academic vocabulary that they missed earlier, or if combining the skill of finding synonyms and antonyms with the skill of using academic vocabulary proves to be challenging.)
