This is a 49-card scavenger hunt that can be used to teach students some of the ways a New Year is celebrated around the world. In this hunt students will learn students will learn why round shapes and foods are important in many cultures, what Hogmanay is, what Ecuadorians burn at midnight on New Year's Eve, and much more. To complete the hunt, students read a multiple-choice question. Then they read a passage to find the answer to the question. Students receive instant feedback on whether or not they chose the correct answer. The final card in the deck challenges students to write 3 interesting things they learned from the hunt. It can be used as a holiday activity, to supplement a study of different cultures, to enhance the understanding of a story, or practice for reading informational text.
