Description: Let's have a little yummy Halloween fun with the Vocalic "AR"! This deck targets /ar/ in all positions of words, using written word prompts. As the client swipes the sweets to feed the monsters, a new target word is revealed. Each card is designed with various sweets so that the child is motivated to keep creating different scenes as he/she progresses through the deck. There are 50 words in this deck with 5 targeted words per card. For additional practice, instruct the child to produce each word in phrases and/or sentences. For emerging readers, integrate phonemic awareness and decoding skills by instructing the child to sound out each word before providing assistance. If the child is unable to read, provide a description (definition) of each word (i.e. Car- has 4 wheels and moves down the road). This is a great way to increase vocabulary skills! For best results, an SLP or caregiver should be present to cue for correct productions of the targeted sound.
