Description: This 13 card deck includes a non-fiction text tracing the beginning of slavery through the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960's. The text includes paragraphs about Jim Crow laws, the Tuskegee Airmen, Rosa Parks, the Woolworth Counter Sit-ins, the Children's Crusade, Brown vs. Topeka Board of Education and more. It is meant as an overview to spark curiosity and an interest in further research. Scattered throughout the text are 4 multiple choice questions, one reading response (which must be hand scored) a vocabulary drag and drop exercise and a drag and drop timeline activity. The comprehension and vocabulary questions are based on released items from PARCC and SBAC. It is my hope that this FREE BOOM Card set will help you teach your students about this important struggle and spur them to further research and study.
