Description: 120 task cards on biology prefixes and suffixes. Master the science vocabulary! Do not let the science vocabulary master you! This is a familiar topic in my science classroom. The new vocabulary words in a first year life science or biology class can be overwhelming. However, many of the vocabulary words contain either a prefix or a suffix that will help the student understand the meaning of the word. These boom cards will help to familiarize your students with many of the common prefixes and suffixes used in biology and life science. This may seem difficult at first, but once the students learn these prefixes and suffixes, it will be of great benefit to them as the year progresses. There are 80 prefixes and suffixes covered. Examples include: hetero, homo, auto, trans, chloro, cyto, extra, intra, hydro, multi, poly, and pseudo. This deck also include 40 words that students will break down to determine their meaning. For example: What is the meaning of "spermatophyte"? "Sperm" means seed and "phyte" means plant. A spermatophyte is a plant that produces seeds.
