Description: Using Old Faithful Geyser as a point of interest, the students can see how real life data can be used to find patterns. This is a lesson opener for Algebra I. This will help the instructor determine some knowledge from previous math classes. This lesson is an introductory lesson on patterns, collecting data, graphing data and determining an expression from the data. The ultimate goal is for students to be able to write an expression from a set of linear data. This lesson also introduces arithmetic patterns and gives the learner some terminology that is needed such as term, consecutive terms and common difference.
