Description: This summer-themed deck allows students to explore the size of a problem and the different intensities of emotions one may experience. This deck was designed to allow educators and therapists to explore the following with students: 1) A problem is something that happens that was not part of the plan and negatively influences it. Problems make people feel uncomfortable. 2) Problems come in different sizes. Glitches are issues that many people encounter. These are daily occurrences within our environment. Small problems can be taken care of quickly and can be solved without the help of another person. Medium problems take more time to solve and may or may not require more help. Big problems and emergencies require a lot of help from others. 3) To help us talk about our feelings we use words such as happy, mad, sad, and scared. When problems happen, we have different feelings of different sizes or intensities. We usually use words such as sad, upset, disappointed, and afraid because problems make people feel uncomfortable. ***NOTE: The HOW DO YOU FEEL CARDS allow multiple answers. There are no incorrect responses on these cards. This allows the teacher/therapist to discuss the intensities of emotions that different people in the situation may experience. It also allows instructors to discuss inappropriate emotional responses.*** Always Have Fun! Jenn Saliba - The Speech Banana
