Description: Perfect for teaching thematic vocabulary. Work on literacy skills, vocabulary expression, and identification and fine motor skills (grasping icons). Building sentence structure is so important for our students. This specific adapted book is something I designed trying out a few key elements: TWO pages of adapted icons (one for the # the other for the animal). touch math to the number of icons to appeal to the teachers in the group but also because it’s an amazing visual for students. Students can pretend they are the zookeeper and see how many animals “they have” to take care of. There is the consistent carrier phrase “I have” throughout the book.
