********* TRIGGER WARNING********* PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THIS DECK CONTAINS COMMENTS THAT ARE OFFENSIVE. IF YOU PLAN TO USE THIS DECK, READ THROUGH AND HIDE CARDS THAT YOU FIND INAPPROPRIATE OR DO NOT WISH TO USE WITH YOUR STUDENTS. This "should you say that" fun deck can be used with any open-ended game, but works particularly well with game boards! Open the fun cards on one side of your screen and a game board on the other, then you're ready to play! Each card has a social scenario and questions about how well the student knows the conversation partner in the situation, if the topic of conversation is potentially touchy, and if they should or should not have made that comment. I made this deck specifically for my students who are aware of current events, but have trouble distinguishing what is okay to talk about with whom. Social scenarios include inappropriate comments about the following topics: -Politics -Race -Gender -Disabilities -Appearance Once the student answers each question, they get to choose a colored circle to drag to the side to reveal how many spaces they get to move on a game board (a number from 1-5). This is a deck that I was nervous to publish because it contains so many inappropriate comments, but that I have found to be very useful with my kiddos. It's a great way to start a conversation about social rules, empathy, and perspective taking. This deck attempts to make these rules about touchy subjects more concrete.
