Description: This Boom Card activity is a fun and engaging way for students to understand and practice adding fractions with like denominators. It provides forty-five cards in which the first five cards can be used as a mini lesson to teach the concept of adding fractions with like denominators. Some of the sums will be a fraction greater than one and will need to be changed into a mixed numbers. The beginning cards will show this using a model and with decomposing. Students will also have cards with adding mixed numbers. There are multiple choice cards and fill in the blank cards.
