In this activity students will read math addition story problems within 10 that are based on Module 1, Engage NY. Students will use the visual clues to identify the correct 5-group drawing and number sentence that correctly solves each story problem. This activity reinforces the Read-Draw-Write strategy for solving math story problems. In addition, it reviews the representation of a story problem with 5-group drawings and number sentences. For an additional scaffold, purchase the version with audio to support your beginner or ELL students. It is an ideal math activity for grades 1-2.
