Description

Syntax and grammar are the bread and butter of language. Without a good grasp of it, students can have difficulty understanding complex directions or grade-level passages. As grade-level passages get more difficult, I've been finding the need to target higher-level complex sentences using subordinating conjunctions. Usually by middle school, my students are able to form sentences using compound sentences and have FANBOYS (for, and, nor, but, or, yet, so) down pat. But when I ask them about the meaning of a sentence with the word "although", "while", etc. they don't get it. This evidence-based resource will help you target subordinating conjunctions (because, since, if, until, when, even though/although, while, before and after). It starts with an overview of complex sentences and how to spot dependent/independent clauses. This resource has over 52 pages of content and 40 leveled practice questions. Leveled instruction: Complex sentences at different levels are targeted in this resource. Level 1: Combining two simple sentences given a conjunction Level 2: Completing the second half of a sentence Level 3: Making your own sentence with a conjunction (topic/sent frame included) Perfect for targeting multiple goals at once: Grammar Syntax Complex sentences Subordinating conjunctions Sentence formation And more! Easy editing and navigation: It has editable text boxes to make for easy therapy, whether it's digital or in-person. It also has clickable links throughout
