Description
This deck presents the information in a systematic and measurable way. The learner needs to be a reader to learn from this deck. First tell the learner, "You will be green and I will be red. You will read the green and I will read the red." Then, start the deck. As the green sentences appear start by using gestural prompts: Point and track each of the the green words the learner is to read during their turn. When the red sentences appear put your hand up to gesture "stop" to the learner as you read (DO NOT point to the red print as you read, only point to the green print) . When the green words appear return to pointing to the text to cue the learner to read their "part". Continue this process for the remainder of the deck. IMPORTANT SUGGESTION: The teacher should control the "next" button to turn the page to maintain the pace of the conversation. Suggested steps: -4 sessions over 2 days in a row with all prompts suggested in this "About" section -Fade the prompt of pointing to the green text words for the learner to begin reading -Fade the "stop" motion prompt on red text pages -Fade the deck (no visual support). Your initiation of conversation is the natural prompt. -Start to vary your responses by one word only: the place, people etc. in your responses. ****Set your own MEASURABLE criterion for moving on to EACH suggested step (e.g. "Independent responses 80% of the time with stop prompt when run 5 times during the day") before moving on to the next suggested step)
