It includes: *Sorting b's and d's & p's and q's *Identifying the reversed letters from a line of letters. *Quick fire questions - which one is correct? *Visual discrimination - Find all the p's - b's - d's -f's etc from a busy background. Help your students with reversal awareness to produce correct orientation of letters in their handwriting. Also work on visual discrimination, visual attention and figure-ground skills. In addition it is important to include activities such as; *Visualise a letter and write it in the air. Do this with eyes closed too. *Draw letters on a child's back or the palm of the hand with a finger. Can they identify what it is? *Work on Position in Space activities. *Use stencils to feel the shape of the letters. *Trace over tactile letters with the finger to reinforce the visual form perception of letters. Verbalise direction and say the name and sound. Reversing letters and numbers in writing is often commonly observed in children with SEN and other developmental disorders. It is not uncommon for all young children 4-7 years to have written reversals however when this continues to a high degree additional evaluation and support may be needed.
