If students know their doubles facts, this strategy can be used to add doubles + 1. Using Doubles + 1 strategy involves decomposing one addend to make a double with the other addend. Example: 5 + 6 is the same as 5 + 5 and 1 more If 5 + 5 = 10 Then 5 + 6 = 11 Colored tiles are used for visual support. Type in the answer to doubles + 1 from 1 to 10.
