Description: Phonological awareness is a crucial skill that develops through infancy and in the early childhood years. Kids with excellent phonological awareness skills are generally very good readers - and vice versa. That is why it is critical that if we notice a delay in these skills, especially in the kindergarten year when decoding skills are being taught - we address it immediately! Our students' reading skills depend on it. Phonological awareness is a large set of skills all of which have to do with the ability to recognize and manipulate sounds. Some of these skills are rhyming, syllable segmentation, phoneme identification, sound deletion and substitution. This deck was created to help your students improve phonological awareness skills, through final sound identification. Your students will be required to identify a picture and match its ending sound to a picture with the same ending sound. He or she will need to choose the correct matching picture from a field of two to four phonemes. The phonemes used in this game are /s/ /m/ /t/ /f/ /d/ /l/ /n/ /p/. Each page has 20-24 practice trials! Graphemes are not used in this game at all as we are focusing solely on SOUND!! Thanks for purchasing this game - please feel free to let me know how I can improve it! Malka
