Description: A fun way to help your students add fractions with the same denominator! This deck of cards starts with a review of fractions and includes diagrams with moveable parts to help students visualize adding fractions with like denominators. It's scaffolded to increase in difficulty to help build your students' confidence with fractions. Do your students tend to add the denominators on accident? This activity is designed to help! For the first few fraction addition problems, students are given visual models of the fractions and must fill in only the numerator. Next, students are asked to fill in only the denominator. By the end of the deck, students will be able to add fractions without a picture and enter both the numerator and denominator. All sums are less than 1 (this activity does not include mixed numbers). Students do not need to simplify fractions.
