Looking to build your students' reading fluency with words containing digraphs and blends? This fun deck can help! It provides practice reading words and sentences containing consonant blends and digraphs (CCSS RF1.3a), improves reading fluency (CCSS RF.1.4) AND develops an understanding of sentence structure (CCSS L.3.1a) What's Included: • There are 43 digital task cards in total: two instruction cards, 30 word and sentence reading cards, and 11 sentence structure cards. • All words are one-syllable with short vowel sounds and include consonant blends as well as digraphs. A few high-frequency irregular words (e.g., your, they, etc.) also appear in the sentences. How it works: • In the reading cards, kids see three or four words and must click on each as they read them out loud. Underneath, they see a sentence, which they must read and then click on all the pictures that match the meaning of the sentence. This quick comprehension check ensures they have understood the sentence correctly. • Sentence Structure Cards: On these cards, sentences are grouped into phrases according to their function / the question they answer. Students must drag each phrase into the appropriate box as they put the sentence into the correct order. This activity, which builds awareness of sentence structure and grammatical functions, is a great way to introduce grammar to your students!
