To play: Read the situation and four possible responses. Determine the "best" response. Variations on play include: Cover responses and have student give their response before reading and choosing the "best" response. Have students give pros and cons of each response. Discuss why each response is "good" or "bad." Discuss why there may be other better responses based on the people and situation. Talk about how tone of voice, nonverbal communication (facial expression, gestures, etc.), age of communication partner, relationships, etc. must be considered.
