You can elicit particular grammatical structures, sentence types, vocabulary words, etc. by modeling how to include them in the student's story. You can also work on other areas such as articulation by incorporating words with target sounds, or practice fluency skills by having students use strategies as they dictate words/phrases/sentences for the story.
