Working with “intrusive sounds” sounds when a client cannot blend a consonant sound directly with a vowel sound without putting an intrusive consonant sound in place. The best approach I have found is to work on the blending by changing the intrusive sound into a “h” sound. The “h” sound is so silent that the blend works and over time and with practice, the blend of sounds works really well for the client and this removes the intrusive sound.
