Text structures in informational passages. Help students build confidence with identifying informational text structure using engaging, grade-appropriate reading passages. This Boom™ Cards deck includes 25 passages written for Grades 3–5, with each passage featuring one clearly dominant text structure. Students read each 5–7 sentence passage and choose from five text structures: description, sequence, cause and effect, compare and contrast, and problem and solution. The passages cover a variety of interesting informational topics, including glowworms, sea turtles, glaciers, coral reefs, renewable energy, weather balloons, unusual animals, and environmental solutions. The deck includes a balanced mix of all five text structures and is designed to help students look beyond signal words and focus on how the author organizes ideas.
