This is a 37-card scavenger hunt that can be used to teach students some of the Christmas traditions that are done around the world. In this hunt students will learn why spiders are a symbol of good luck in the Ukraine, the similarities and differences between the Italian Belfana and Santa, what activity Swedish families participate in at 3:00 p.m. on Christmas Eve, and more. To complete the hunt, students read a question and several answer choices. Then they read a passage to find the answer to the question. Students receive instant feedback on whether or not they chose the correct answer. The final card in the deck challenges students to write 3 interesting things they learned from the hunt. It can be used as a Christmas activity, to supplement a study of different cultures, to enhance the understanding of a story, or practice for reading informational text.
